Privacy Policy — Panchangam (Android)

We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the Panchangam Android app handles and what it does not do. A separate policy applies to the Panchangam web app.

Summary

We do not collect personal data.
No accounts, no logins, no sign-up.
No advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics SDKs, no tracking.
All panchangam, kundali, porutham and baby-name calculations run on your device.

What information the app processes

Panchangam computes traditional Hindu calendar values (tithi, nakshatra, sunrise, muhurtam, kundali, porutham, etc.) for a date and place that you choose. To do this, the app processes:

The city you select (or the latitude / longitude / timezone of a custom city you enter). Used only to perform the astronomical calculation and to display the result back to you.
The date you select.
Optional birth details for Kundali / Porutham / Baby Name (date, time, place). Used only to generate the chart shown on screen. Never uploaded.
Optional family-member profiles you choose to save for quick access. Stored only on your device.
Your preferred language (English, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, or Hindi).

Where this information is stored

Your selected city, language and any saved profiles are stored only on your device using Android’s local preferences storage (DataStore). Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
We do not maintain user profiles, accounts, or histories on any server.

Network requests

The Android app does not require an internet connection for core panchangam, kundali, porutham, baby-name and festival features — everything is computed on-device.

If you use the optional “custom city” search, the app queries the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to resolve a place name to coordinates. Those queries go directly to OpenStreetMap and are governed by their privacy policy (osmfoundation.org).
External links you tap (such as “Read full privacy policy online”) open in your browser and are subject to that destination’s own policy.

Permissions used by the Android app

INTERNET — used only when you explicitly perform a custom-city lookup or open an external link. Core features work fully offline.
The app does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos, calendar, or any other sensitive device data.

Children’s privacy

Panchangam is a general-audience reference app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Data retention & deletion

Because we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete. To remove the local preferences and profiles saved by the app, clear the app’s data from your device’s Settings, or uninstall the app.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the “Effective date” above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes on Google Play.
